Career summary:
Financial reporter for trade publications and for Knight-Ridder Financial for more than 20 years. Vanessa has contributed book reviews to Booklist magazine (a publication of the American Library Association) for 15 years. Her freelance experience has ranged from articles for Barron’s to stories for WBEZ’s 845 radio program.
Community/volunteer commitments:
Vanessa has taught as an adjunct instructor at Columbia College, Chicago, and Concordia College, River Forest. She is currently a grant writer for a school for retrieved high school drop-outs.
Interests:
Vanessa currently serves on the board of the League of Women Voters of Chicago where she is chair of the communications committee. She is also on the board of West Side United and was formerly a board member of Young Chicago Authors.
